Children among workers saved; Labor is bound to be suspected

BELOGIVI: Daily wage workers praised from Madhya Pradesh, employed by contractors allegedly related to MRN Cane Power India Ltd and Halalasidhanath Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd., has been saved and sent back to their home town.
The action was followed after they claimed to have been used as a laborer bound by around 16 hours of work a day.
Beleagavi DC M G Hiremath has ordered an investigation into this case and looked for reports from Tahsilda Ramdurga and Nippani Taluk, where this worker was deployed to work.
“I have ordered questions after receiving complaints.
I am waiting for a report from Tahsildars,” DC told Ti.
A contractor has brought 50 workers belonging to the adivated community in the Barwani District in MP by paying a down payment of Rs 20,000 to each.
“In Maharashtra, two contractors divided the group into two and mobilized one in Ramadurga and the others in Nippani about two and a half months ago, and did not pay their wages,” said Saidaram Maharaj, a worker who also accused labor bound.
.
About 20 workers, including nine children, worked for Hallasidhanath companies rescued on January 27 from Konstala in Nippani by the Spandana NGO.
After the NGO warned the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), children were transferred to a shelter.
Apart from workers who accused the delivery of bound, Nippani Tahsildar allegedly refused to recognize the same thing, and also did not save the workers to the NGO intervene.
In Ramadurga in Hallagatti, 29 workers, including several children, on January 21 were asked to empty the place by sugar cane field owner who supplied a stick to the MRN company founded by the Murugesh R Nirani industry.
This company is located in Bagalkot.
They were forced to leave the place after they marked their problems to the Sanghatana Adivasi Jagriti, a parliamentary-based NGO, said Sushela K Spandana.
“I have to remind local authorities when the owner of agricultural land and contractors named ‘Kaalu’ pressure them to go late at night,” he said.
Susheela said when the local authority sounded helplessly, he told the house of the house of Araga Jnanendra who was seeking help, after the workers were allowed to stay.
On January 22, they left the place with difficulty.
Vijay Nirani, group executor director, told Ti that he did not know about the incident, and he would ask.
“We do not employ workers directly, but take their services through contractors and make payments to them,” he added.
