Coimbatore: The two-month-old boy died of burns in Thondaamuthur in Coimbatore District on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as a athiran from Amman Nagar in Thondaamuthur.
Athiran Thiyagarajan’s father, 34, is an IT employee.
His mother Swathi, 28, burned garbage in their backyard on December 28 last year.
He accidentally caught fire on his shawl.
Swathi holds a baby on his hips.
The baby is too burning.
Thiyagarajan was not at home when the incident happened.
The woman managed to put out the fire with water.
His neighbors rushed to the house and shifted Swathi and the child to a private hospital.
Swathi has suffered 30% injury when children suffer from 70% injury.
Athiran died on Tuesday while undergoing treatment.
The Thondaamuthur police registered a case below Section 174 (suspicious death) from the CRPC.
The police source said that they met Swathi and recorded his statement.
