Coimbatore: Stretching in front of Kumarasamy Lake along Jalan Thagam has been converted into a children’s zone, so the children visit the lake can ride a bicycle without fear of being managed by a vehicle.
A large number of children, accompanied by their parents, visited the lake, where the drawing competition was held by Coimbatore Smart City Limited on Sunday to mark the 75th anniversary of Indian independence.
They feel safe in the children’s zone and praises Coimbatore Corporation to regulate it.
“There is enough space now for children to cycling.
They can also skate when the road is smooth.
Even though the vehicle passes the adjacent road, permanent traffic barricade has been placed along 500 meters of stretches,” said V Parvathi from the govindasamy layout, a Mother.
The Civic body has also carved out space from Jalan DB, which is being developed as a smart street, for cyclists.
An official said that the cycling lane was arranged there.
Jobs will be completed in one or two days.
