LOS ANGELES: China has accused the United States to limit and suppress Chinese students for tens of hours at Los Angeles Airport “No reason”.
The Consulate General of China in Los Angeles, California said that it has urged the US to “stop limiting and suppressing Chinese students” for no reason, reporting the Global Times.
According to Chinese media, a number of Chinese students were repeatedly questioned, threatened or even limited to tens of hours at La Airport.
Last month, China opposed the interrogation and deportation of a Chinese student by US officials at the airport in Texas, and submitted a representation of Khidmat to the US.
This happened after a Chinese student was reportedly interrogated at the border entrance in Houston.
After the probe that lasted for several hours, students were deported by the US, The Global Times reported quoting information from the Chinese Embassy in the US.
Embassies say US actions violate legitimate rights and interests of students and cause serious physical and mental damage to themselves and their families.
Accusing serious violations of human rights of students, Embassies complained that there were a number of arbitrary interrogation cases and even deportation of Chinese students by US officials.
Embassies added that “the exchange of people-to-people is the social foundation of the Chinese-US relationship.
Chinese students in the US play a positive role in promoting mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.” China urged the US to respect her statement to welcome Chinese students and asked them to stop “abusing” using national security.
Beijing and Washington have been in Loggerheads for many problems including trade, Covid-19, human rights issues and several quad and auctic groupings.
