Beijing: The Chinese military has detonated a dam to release flood water that threatens one of the most densely populated provinces.
Operation late Tuesday in Luoyang City came after at least 12 people died due to severe flooding in the provincial capital of Henan Zhengzhou, where the population was trapped in the subway system and left stranded in schools, apartments and offices.
Transportation and work life have been disrupted throughout the province, with torrents from the rain turning the road to the river that flows quickly, washing the car and going up to the house of the community.
More than 100,000 people have been evacuated to a safe place.
Henan Province is home to many cultural sites and the main bases for industry and agriculture.
Government media on Wednesday shows waters at the height of the waist, with rain still down.
To the north of Zhengzhou, the famous Shaolin Temple, which is famous for the mastery of Buddhist martial arts, is also beaten badly.
China experienced regular floods during the summer, but the growth of the city and conversion of agricultural land into subdivisions has increased the impact of the event.
