Beijing: China suspends flights and trains, canceled a professional basketball league match and announced the bulk testing of Coronavirus in Wuhan, because the widening outbreak of the Delta variant reached the city where the disease was first detected at the end of 2019.
While the total number of cases still entered hundreds, They are far more broad than anything that has been handled by China since the initial outbreak that destroyed Wuhan in early 2020, and over time spread throughout the country and the world.
China has not been eliminated but mostly limits Covid-19 at home with fast locking and bulk testing to isolate infected people every time a new case appears.
Most of the previous outbreaks did not spread far beyond the city or province.
This time, the case has been confirmed in more than 35 cities in 17 of the 31 provinces and mainland China.
Nanjing and Yangzhou cities have canceled all domestic flights, and Beijing has stopped the train long distances from 23 stations.
The Chinese basket association said that the professional league matches of their children would be suspended because of a pandemic.
Wuhan, the provincial capital of 11 million people in Central China, is the last city to undergo testing throughout the city.
Three cases were confirmed there on Monday, the first non-import cases in more than a year.
They were among 90 new cases that were confirmed nationally the previous day, the National Health Commission said Tuesday.
From them, 61 spread locally and 29 among people who had just arrived from abroad.
Most local cases are still in Jiangsu Province, where the plague starts at the airport in Nanjing, the provincial capital, and has spread to other parts in the province and so on.
The authority reported 45 new cases, five in Nanjing and 40 in Yangzhou City, 105 kilometers (65 miles) away, where the second round of mass testing was ongoing.
Five other provinces and the cities of Beijing and Shanghai reported new local cases in one digit.
In Shanghai, the largest city in the country, a driver who worked in one of the two main airports was tested positively.
Beijing has reported a total of five cases in the past few days.
The Nanjing outbreak, which has been tracked into the Delta variant, is the source of the case in most other places.
Separately, the Delta variant outbreak in two other places was associated with Myanmar’s neighbors, who had seen a sharp increase in infection.
The outbreak in Zhengzhou, a flood-affected city that killed around 300 people last month, began with people who arrived from Myanmar by air.
The third outbreak, which began earlier, spilled into Yunnan Province from his border with Myanmar.
Scientists affiliated with the government said that China’s vaccine was less effective against the new strain of Coronavirus but still offered protection.
Only the Chinese vaccine is currently given in China, where the authorities say more than 1.6 billion doses have been given.
