New Delhi: At the Virtual Peak with US President Biden, China’s leader Xi Jinping projects China as a peaceful country and said it never started a war or claimed one inch of other people’s land.
“Chinese people always love and appreciate peace.
Aggression or hegemony not in the blood of the Chinese nation,” Xi told Biden.
“Since the establishment of the People’s Republic, China has never started a single war or conflict, and has never taken one inch of land from other countries,” he said, in a real effort to shrink the criticism that Beijing aggressively affirmed territorial claims.
In disputed areas, it is well along the actual control line with India, South China Sea or maritime disputes with Japan.
Xi, however, said that China would “maintain” its sovereignty when he warned that anyone who played with a fire on Taiwan’s offer for independence would be “burned”.
