Beijing: China on Monday announced a drastic deduction for children online playing time for only three hours a week for a period of time, the latest steps in broad cracking on the largest ganying market in the world.
Gamers under 18 years will only be allowed to play online between 8:00 pm and 9:00 a.m.
on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Xinhua State News Agency said, in what was described as an effort to curb addiction in the gaming state.
Gamers are asked to use their ID cards when registering to play online, to ensure underage children do not lie about their age.
On school holidays, children will be allowed to play a little longer, with the time allocated at 60 minutes per day.
“Gaming addiction has affected the study and normal life …
and many parents have become miserable,” said the national press and national publication in a statement.
The company is prohibited from offering gaming services outside the specified hours, although the statement does not explain how the rules breakers will be punished.
Previous restrictions at first since the end of 2019 banning late at night and players limit only 90 minutes to play on weekdays and three hours on weekends and holidays.
