Washington / Beijing: China flight regulator has ordered canceling more than 60 scheduled flights from the United States in recent weeks, after many passengers were tested positive for Covid-19 after arriving in China.
China’s Civil Aviation Administration (CAAC) has mandated cancellations from flights of public passenger 22 total to Shanghai under the rules of Pandemic Covid-19: 10 by Delta Air Lines, six of the United Airlines and six airlines.
Delta said it canceled Detroit flights to Shanghai last Friday and for January 14 because of China’s rules needed “all-affected operators”, whose passengers tested positive Covid-19, “to cancel the service into China.” CAAC said on Tuesday that it would cancel two other delta flights from Detroit to Shanghai and six other delta flights from Seattle to Shanghai starting next week – bringing total cancellation to 10 for airlines.
The regulator has also canceled 42 other US flights operated by Chinese operators after a positive Covid-19 test.
Most of the canceled flights were operated by three of China’s largest airlines, according to the calculation of the suspension of Reuters flights for the new year.
