Beijing: China reported 143 new Covid-19 cases on the mainland for August 9, up from 125 cases the day before, said Health Authority on Tuesday.
China’s latest clusters are mainly driven by Delta variants that are highly transplanted, officials said.
Among the newly confirmed infections, China’s highest number has reported since January 20, 108 transmitted locally, up from 94 a day before, while the remaining imported from abroad, said the National Health Commission (NHC).
Most local infections are in the eastern province of Jiangsu and the Central Province of Henan.
The number of new asymptomatic infections was 38 of 39 the day before.
China does not classify it as a confirmed case.
China has reported a total of 93,969 infections since the plague began.
The number of deaths reported fixed at 4,636.
