Beijing: China said five citizens had been kidnapped from mining operations in East Congo.
The Chinese Embassy in Kinshasa posted in Wechat Online service message that the fifth was kidnapped Sunday from the site in South Kivu Province which was bordered by Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania.
This asked all Chinese citizens to leave Kivu Selatan and neighboring provinces of Kivu and Ituri, said the security situation in the area was “very complex and gloomy” and that there was little possibility in providing attacks or kidnapping.
There is no detail given about those who are kidnapped, which they work for or who allegedly take it.
“All Chinese citizens and Chinese investment business in Congo must pay attention to local conditions, increase their safety awareness and emergency readiness, and avoid unnecessary trips,” said the Embassy.
On Saturday, Congo Ranger’s conservation park was killed when 100 heavy armed people were considered a former member of the M23 rebel group, attacking the patrol post near Bukima Village in North Kivu.
Other rangers fled without getting hurt.
Some armed groups included democratic forces for Rwandan’s release, known as French FDLR acronyms, Mai-Mai and M23 regularly Vie to control the natural resources of East Congo.
Apart from the danger, China’s business has moved to Congo and other unstable African countries in an effort for rare minerals and other natural resources.
Chinese workers are also subject to kidnappings and attacks in Pakistan and other countries with active rebellions.
