Beijing: Customs officials in China have seized a large consignment of world maps, intended to exports, because it shows Arunachal Pradesh as part of India, the country’s official media reported on Friday.
China claims the northeastern state of India Arunachal Pradesh as part of South Tibet, a position that is strongly rejected by India.
India said Arunachal was an integral part.
Maps, wrapped around 300 export consignments are marked as “sheets”, confiscated by customs at Shanghai Pudong Airport, China Daily.
CN reported.
China issued a new regulation in 2019, making it mandatory for all maps printed and sold in this country, including those intended for export, to bring the official version of China maps that combine Chinese claims including Arunachal, Taiwan and the South China Sea.
