BEIJING: China on Monday accused the G7 of”political manipulation” once it criticised Beijing on its human rights document in Xinjiang and Hong Kong.
In a communique following a summit in England, G7 leaders slammed China over abuses against minorities from the Xinjiang area and pro-democracy activists in Hong Kong, whereas US President Joe Biden called for Beijing to”start acting more sensibly concerning international standards on human rights”.
The Chinese embassy in the United Kingdom reacted on Monday, also accused that the G7 of”interfering”.
“The Group of Seven (G-7) takes benefit of Xinjiang-related problems to participate in atomic manipulation and intervene with China’s internal affairs, which we strongly oppose,” an embassy spokesman said in a declaration.
The statement condemned the G7 of”lies, rumours and baseless accusations”.
Human rights groups say China has piled up an estimated 1 million Uyghurs as well as other minorities from Xinjiang to internment camps, which Beijing claims is to eliminate Islamic extremism.
“We will encourage our values, such as by calling on China to honor human rights and basic freedoms” that the G7 communique read.
In their initial bodily summit in almost two decades, leaders of these seven countries announced lots of pledges on Covid-19 vaccinations, climate modification, rights and commerce.
They also called for a fresh evaluation in China to the roots of Covid-19 — prompting a reaction by the Chinese embassy the job has to be carried out at an”scientific, objective and reasonable way”, with no agreeing to another probe.
“The present epidemic is still raging across the Earth, along with the traceability function ought to be completed by international scientists and shouldn’t be politicized,” the embassy said.
The coronavirus first surfaced in central China in late 2019, along with the World Health Organization sent a group of global specialists in January to research its own roots.
However, their long-delayed report released in March attracted no firm decisions, and the analysis has confronted criticism for lacking transparency and accessibility.
The G7 also declared a new infrastructure finance that President Biden said could be”more fair” compared to China’s enormous Belt along with Road Initiative.
The embassy statement whined in reaction the”accusations from China on trade and economic problems in the communique are inconsistent with all the truth and therefore are foolish.”
