China takes extreme Covid-19 detention steps even further, warning that viruses can be transmitted in packages sent by mail as well as the largest annual online shopping festival in the country.
After three workers in children’s clothing makers in the Northeast Hebei Province were found to have Covid, authorities more than 1,200 miles were ordered to those who received – or even handle – packages from the company to be tested.
The Health Commission in Guangxi, in Southeast China, describes the situation as a “Covid letter chain.” Back in Hebei, who surrounded Beijing, officials have tested 300 clothing packages from the company, Haohui Ecommerce Co., and stopped package delivery services in two cities – Xinji and Jinzhou – and the city of Shenze, the province said the government in a statement.
All tests return negative.
China has checked goods such as frozen food for viruses, although the international health body underestimates the risk of transmission on packaging and other surfaces.
The Chinese authorities say parcels from abroad or at high risk of domestic location must be disanited.
Even when receiving goods from areas that are considered low-risk covid, the recipient is encouraged to wear masks and gloves while taking and dismantling shipping.
Increasingly contrary to the approach of other countries, China survives with zero covid strategy, hunting for any potential virus cases in an effort to load the delta outbreak that has been infected by more than 1,000 people in the country 1.4 billion.
In addition to closing schools and entertainment venues in the outbreak area, the government even ordered tests for people who were in the same public area with someone infected.
Meanwhile, the authorities in the city of Xilinhot Mongolia Inner have told people who shop or receive packages from other clothing stores in the last month to report to the local disease prevention department after the Covid trace was detected.
Again, there are no positive tests that are linked to items.
The Chinese National Health Commission reported 39 local infectious infections Wednesday.
Some people complain to social media that they are forced to quarantine at home because of their green code – a smartphone application that tracks one’s health status – becomes yellow after they receive the package, meaning their movement will be limited.
The latest warning comes as a Chinese buyer ready for “Single Day ‘Thursday,” Bonanza’s largest online shopping in the world held by Alibaba Group Holde Ltd..
From last year’s event amounted to around 500 billion yuan ($ 78 billion).
