MUNICH: The pro-Uyghur group has condemned the practice of Chinese government to target Uyghur’s “family room” to silence Uyghurs abroad.
According to World Uyghur Congress (WUC), China’s authority has intensified the targeting of Uyghurs abroad, threatening to hold or imprison their family members in Turkistan Timur if they do not stop talking.
“Tearing the Uyghur family Apart is a skill controlled by the Chinese Communist Party for the past few years, adding sadness and strong guilt to repression that we have suffered”, said President Wuc, Dolkun Isa.
“By holding up Uyghur’s parents, siblings, and children, or forced them to criticize their relatives abroad, the Chinese government exploited innocent people to take action on overseas, trying to prevent them from speaking in the Uyghur genocide.
” In recent months, Xinjiang’s foreign friendship association in Central Asia and in Russia has facilitated virtual meetings between Uyghur students who live in Central Asian countries and their relatives in Turkistan Timur.
Wuc said that some students in these countries had rejected the association’s invitation, whose relatives were detained by the Chinese authorities.
“For Uyghurs in Diaspora, it is often contacted by Chinese authorities and is urged to return to China.
Especially in Central Asian countries, the Chinese consulate has actively tried to convince Uyghur to return to the promise that the Chinese authorities will do it facilitate reuniting with Family members, “added the group.
However, according to WUC, the request was carried out in a force, because they were usually accompanied by the threat that family members in Turkistan Timur would be held if the return to China was rejected.
