Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping told Joe Biden’s colleagues that China and the US must respect each other, coexisting in peace and pursuing Win-Win cooperation when the two leaders held a virtual summit on Tuesday.
Speaking at the Summit, XI called for developing healthy and stable Chinese-US relations and stated his readiness to work with Biden to build consensus and take active steps to advance bilateral relations in the positive direction.
The Summit was very awaited, which began on early Tuesday, was the third involvement between XI, 68, and Biden, 78, since February.
Both leaders have a long phone call in September.
The meeting took place in the midst of high tensions in China-US bilateral relations for Beijing’s actions on issues such as trade, human rights, South China and Taiwan.
In the opening comments circulated by official media here, XI said the two countries faced many challenges and they had to improve communication and cooperation.
China and the US must respect each other, living coexistently peacefully, and pursuing Win-Win cooperation, said XI, expressing her readiness to work with Biden to build consensus and take active steps to advance in the positive direction of China.
According to the AP news agency report, Biden at the beginning of the meeting said, “It seems to be our responsibility as a leader of China and the United States to ensure that competition between our countries does not trade, whether intended or unwanted competition, not simple, directly.
“A number of problems ranging from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Tibet, in addition to the trilateral security pact between the US, Britain and Australia – and the Quad Alliance consisting of the US, India, Japan and Australia, who are Beijing, and Australia.

The word aims to increase, is expected to look for in the discussion.
China was worried that Biden still continued with the trade war initiated by his predecessor Donald Trump.
Since 2017, the US and China have imposed tariffs in billions of dollars each after Washington accuses Beijing to block access to the market and steal American intellectual property.
Apart from the tension on a number of problems including Taiwan, the virtual Summit came a few days after the two countries promised to increase cooperation to control greenhouse gas emissions at the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow which was recently concluded in Glasgow.
XI shows that China and the US are in critical stage of development, and “global villages” humanity face various challenges.
He said as the two largest economies in the world and permanent members of the UN Security Council, China and the US need to improve communication and cooperation, each of which run their domestic affairs well and, at the same time, bearing the share of their international responsibilities, and work Together to advance the noble causes of world peace and development.
This is the desire with people from both countries and throughout the world, and mission with Chinese and American leaders, Xi said.
He emphasized that healthy and stable Chinese-US relations were needed to advance the development of each country and to maintain a peaceful and stable international environment, including finding an effective response to global challenges such as climate change and covid-19 pandemic.
Doing this will advance the interests of two people and meet the expectations of the international community, he said.
The White House determined low expectations for meetings with XI: no big announcement or even anticipated joint statement, the AP report said.
