Beijing: Two astronauts make the first room run on Sundays outside the Chinese new orbital station to work on a 15 meter long robot arm (50 feet).
Liu Boming and Tang Hongbo were shown by the state of TV climbing from Airlock when the earth rolled over them.
The third crew member, Nie Haisheng’s commander, lived inside.
Astronauts arrived June 17 for a mission of three months above China’s third orbital station, part of an ambitious space program that landed Robot Rover in May.
Their mission came when the Communist Party in power celebrated the 100th anniversary of its establishment.
The first module of the station, Tianhe, or Heavenly Harmony, was launched April 29.
It was followed by automatic spacecraft with food and fuel.
Liu, Nie and Tang arrived June 17 ride Shenzhou capsules.
On Sundays, Liu and Tang completed the installation of robot arms that will be used to assemble the entire station, according to government media.
State TV says their room suit is designed to allow them to work in a hollow room up to six hours if needed.
The Space Agency plans a total of 11 launches until the end of next year to add two more modules to 70 tons station.
Liu was a veteran of Shenzhou 7 mission in 2008, where Zhai Zhigang made China’s first space.
Nie was on his third trip into space while Liu made him the first.
All are military pilots.
