BEIJING: The southern city of Guangzhou closed down a local and ordered citizens to remain home Saturday to be examined for its coronavirus after an upsurge in disorders which has rattled police.
Guangzhou, a commercial and business centre of 15 million people north of Hong Hong, has reported 20 new illnesses within the previous week.
The amount is small however alerted Chinese governments who thought they had the illness in check.
The spread of illnesses had been”fast and powerful,” the official Global Times paper mentioned health police as saying.
Saturday’s testing arrangement applied to residents of five roads in Liwan District at town centre.
