Chip lacks pushing RIL, Google to delay the launch of a smartphone

Bengaluru: Reliance Industries postponed the launch of low-cost smartphones developed with Google until November, citing semiconductor deficiencies in the industry.
“Ultra-affordable” smartphone, developed together by the Telecom Reliance and Google arm, arranged to be launched from September 10.
Important components are used in making laptops and telephones.
As a fall, some car makers also suspended production.
“The two companies have begun to test the next Jiophone with a series of limited users to further refinement and actively work to make it available more in time for the celebration season in Diwali,” Jio said in an exchange late on Thursday.
The annual celebration season in India usually lasts 30 days, starts in October and ends with Diwali – set for November 4 this year.
Indians usually make large ticket purchases from jewelry to gadgets and cars around this period.
Additional time will also help reduce global semiconductor deficiencies throughout the current industry, Jio added.
In June, when the telephone was announced, Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani did not determine the price but said it would be the most affordable smartphone “not only in India, but globally”.
Jio disrupted the Indian telecommunications market in 2016 when it was launched with free data cut-price packages and voice services, forcing several competitors from the market.
Now India’s biggest mobile carrier with more than 425 million customers.
Ambani also said in June that Jio, who calculated Facebook, Qualcomm, and Intel among its supporters, believes to be the first to launch 5G services in India.
