New Delhi: West Bengal Cm Mamata Banerjee stepped into the national political scape with the MPS Trinamool Congress in a round voice to choose the chairman of the parliamentary party on Friday.
In his new role, Banerjee, who is not a member of one of the parliamentary houses, will guide his party’s course in parliament to take the Modi government in the middle.
This step is intended to create a formal role for TMC heads in national politics.
He emerged as a formidable opposition leader with his laidiness victory in a Bengal policy, said a TMC member.
With Mamata to the Parliamentary Party, TMC hopes to be more aggressive and proactive.
“Our party expansion plan to other countries will also need Banerjee to be in a helmet at the national level.
The TMC Parliamentary Party will get its institutional status with Banerjee as chairman,” said MP Party Sukhendu Sekhar Roy.
Banerjee is expected to arrive in the capital on July 26 and spend at least four days.
While he would make his side call to President RAM Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he will meet with the Chairman of Congress Sonia Gandhi and a number of other opposition leaders.
