Melbourne: The former New Zealand All-roader Chris Cairns has suffered paralysis at his feet after a stroke in his spine during heart surgery that saved lives in Australia, according to a report.
The 51-year-old has returned to the capital city of Canberra Australia where he lives, but remains in serious condition after suffering complications after the main heart surgery in Sydney.
“During the emergency heart surgery that saved the lives of Chris who underwent in Sydney, he suffered a stroke on his backbone.
This resulted in paralysis in his leg,” Cairns Aaron Lloyd’s lawyer said on Friday in a statement published in Stuff.co.nz.
“As a result he will carry out a significant rehabilitation process at a specialist specialist hospital in Australia.” Cairns faced a long road towards recovery after he suffered aorta dissection, the main medical event that saw it was transferred to Sydney’s St.
Vincent’s Hospital on life support earlier this month.
Aorta dissection is a serious condition where tears occur in the layer in the main artery of the body (aorta).
“Chris and his family still appreciate enormous public support when they handle this difficult time.
They also appreciate the way their privacy is respected,” a statement from his family read.
Cairns’s condition is described as “serious but stable” on August 11 to transfer to Sydney.
Last week, he came out of life and communicated with his family.
One of the best all-rounders of time, Cairns played 62 tests, 215 ODIS and two T20i for New Zealand between 1989 and 2006.
He was named one of his old Cricketers of the Years of the Powers in 2000 when he was at the top His power.
Lance Cairns’s father also played the Cricket test for New Zealand.
Cairns and his wife Melanie lived in Canberra and had two small children.
However, the 51-year-old also faced allegations of matching matches when he played in the Indian Cricket League which was now not dead in 2008 and against many legal battles to prove his innocence where he won a defamation case against the founder of the IPL Lalite Modi in London 2012.
He returned to the accusation of the pulping of the Cricketers Lou Vincent and Brendon McCullum before being released from a fake oath and troubled justice course after a tiring trial in the 2015 London Court.
Fighting allegations of corruption took the victim in his life and at one point in time, he had to take a job with The Auckland Board to drive a truck and clean the bus shelter to brandish legal bills.
