Christmas barracks: no decision about visitors

Kolkata: The Western Welfare Association of Barracks, which organizes a popular Christmas celebration, will decide whether it will open for outsiders after monitoring the Covid situation until the end of this month.
On Tuesday, the Calcutta High Court asked the state government to ensure all Covid norms were followed during the celebration of Christmas and New Year.
The Christmas celebration in Bow Barracks, which continues for more than a week with several functions and programs, withdrawing thousands of people from all over the city.
Last year, the association had banned the entry of outsiders because of a pandemic but still several people appeared on December 23 24 and 25.
“Usually, we set our Christmas plan at this time, but we wanted to be sure of the Covid situation before making a final decision.
Covid hasn’t gone And after each festival, we have witnessed a surge in the number of cases.
The Christmas celebration at Bow Barracks attracts people from far and extensive and we don’t want to take the opportunity for the safety of Bow Barracks.
There will be a Christmas celebration but if it will open for everyone Or only for residents will be decided depending on the Covid situation, “said Angela Govindraj, Secretary of the Association of Welfare Barracks Barracks.
BoW Barrack was built as a garrisons chaos in 1918 for the accommodation of soldiers during World War I but they refused to move barracks.
“Last year, we had limited celebrations to locals, but hundreds of people still came and became difficult to control the crowd.
So, we have decided to wait and watch before making the final decision,” said the residents of Bow Barracks.
