Hyderabad: The Christmas celebration in this city will be subdued this year with many churches canceling Carol Carrolling programs from door-to-door and decided to hold a mass mid-night and early morning.
A year after canceling an annual large-scale Christmas event, the American Christian Celebration Committee (UCCC) has decided to do the event on December 18.
However, because of the restrictions by the police because of Omicron’s concern, they had shifted their venues and had diminished.
The number of people will be allowed for the event.
“This year also, the spotlight will be 200 members of Carol Choir.
Previously, we had planned the annual meeting at Wesley College where nearly 2,000 people participated every year.
Following the police advice, we have moved the event to the YMCA page in Secunderabad and now only 500 people who will be allowed to attend the meeting, “said Robert Surya Prakash, Vice President of the UCCC.
Carol singing programs where community visits have also been suspended.
Some churches have placed Carol singing in their place where independent families will advance with the show.
“All events will be channeled online like last year so that they are advised not to visit the church physically can see services from their homes,” said Norman Issac, Treasurer of the Church of St Johns in Secunderabad.
In many churches, settings are made to ensure the Covid-19 protocol followed.
