New Delhi: CII Industrial Agency has proposed an increase in corporate social responsibility retribution (CSR) with one percentage point of 2% today to provide a dose of covid vaccine booster.
While proposing an increase above the budget, the lobby group argued that two-thirds of revised retribution could be intended for this purpose.
“The administration of the booster dose will require additional money spending from government consolidation finance.
Fixed with commitment that the industry must play its role in sharing expenses, we would like to suggest that the government can consider 1% of the 2% CSR available for covid doses and booster and also requesting the industry To contribute extra 1% as part of their CSR expenditure, for 12 months, “it has been proposed.
In FY20, a 2% contribution has resulted in almost RS 25,000 Crore spent on CSR by 22,500 companies.
With changes in rules and pandemic, the number has dropped to around RS 9,000 Crore according to data for 1,619 companies.
While the government has allocated 35,000 crore rs for vaccination for the current year, the number will increase when FM Niramala Sitharaman presents a revised account on February 1.
