Kolkata: Cinema Paradise, which is closed during a pandemic, will not be reopened with an old avatar.
If the model set by Cinema Prachi, which is reopened on Thursday in a new job, Paradise is likely to adopt the same thing.
Prachi is the only single screen theater in Kolkata who maintains its original format when using the ground floor to set up the retail chain franchise.
Meanwhile, Cinema Rathindra in the sodepur has decided to close permanently this week, even though there is a crore investment.
Everything includes sound systems, screens, chairs and sofas have been removed from the auditorium.
The priority is now restoring investment as a commercial space.
Most single screen cinemas that are closed in Kolkata have made their way for malls or apartments.
The Metro has been changed with a retail chain on the ground floor and multiplex on it.
“We initially had 784 seats.
It was reduced to 500 in 2016.
Now, the capacity of his seat was 200,” said the owner of the Prachi Vidisha Basu.
Bengal property, which has a rent for Paradise, is the weighing option to see if it can follow the Prachi model.
Sunit Singh from Bengal properties, which has 30 years again rent heaven, told Toi, “If we reopen it, it won’t be full capacity.
We are now allowed to run a capacity of 50%.
It doesn’t make a lot of differences for one screen like us , in terms of anything, it will run with a capacity of 20%.
“The current capacity of heaven is 1,119 seats.
“We may have a small screen at the top with a commercial setting on the ground floor.
Whatever happens, we will not return with 1,119-chairs,” he added.
“However, there is no conversation at all about selling the cinema,” he said.
Ranadip Singha Roy from the Rathindra cinema founded in 1987 said his family had spent around Crore in 2019.
“Our cinema has two auditories from the beginning.
We have turned off one in 2019 and renovated others.
The seating capacity for it is reduced to 174.
We tried to reopen twice during locking.
But we have no return.
The OTT release kills us completely.
Instead, there is an additional fee of Rs 10 Lakh, “he said.
In the current state, he wants to concentrate on the use of property for other commercial purposes.
“For love cinema, we have remodeled and maintained an auditorium.
But it didn’t work.
Now we have a diversified plan but now don’t think of having the cinema there.
However, someone cannot predict the future,” he added.
