THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Three times National award winner and famous cinematographer Sivan died at his residence here on Thursday.
He was 89.
He died of cardiac arrest at home.
It’s with great sadness that I share with you all the tragic news that my father breathed his last today.
He was our inspiration and role model.
What he accomplished was achieved through hard work, dedication, discipline and foresight.
Love you Dad for everything and I am sure you will be watching over us from your place among the clouds and stars,’’ his son and director Sangeeth Sivan posted on Facebook.
Sivan made his arrival in Malayalam cinema as the still photographer of evergreen classic `Chemmeen`.
He opened the Sivan studios at Statue junction in 1959.
Yagam,Kilivathil, Keshu, Oru yathra were some of his famous films.
He was the director of children’s film ` Abhayam.
He was born to Gopalapillai and Bhavaniamma in Haripad.
Famous cinematographer and director Santosh Sivan, Sangeeth Sivan , Sanjeev Sivan are his sons and Saritha Rajiv is his daughter.
