Letter: After being a city model in this country for a circular economy – generating income through reuse of waste water – Municipal Corporation (SMC) letters now aim to become a zero zero liquid city release.
Commissioner of the City of Banchhanidhi Pani highlights the performance of the city in COP26 organized by the City of Global Date, Glasgow.
Pani explained how the city produced RS 140 Crore funds by selling 115 MLD recycled water from wastewater.
The city aims to produce RS 500 Crore through water sales processed for use that cannot be taken.
“The recycling model and reuse of City City’s letter have been much appreciated by members who participate in the Global Conference.
We have shown how a circular economic model can work in the city where we generate income by selling water treated,” Pani said to Ti.
Along with recycling and reusing waste water, SMC also shows the model protects its natural water resources.
The SMC effort to block 44 waste water outlets were previously released into the river but and thus prevented the mixing of 370 mld waste water with river water highlighted at the conference.
“City letter produces 1,000 mold wastewater and we aim to treat and reuse completely.
We have discussed ideas about how we will adopt technology to recycle and reuse waste water,” he added.
It should be noted that the city has recently been awarded water + certification as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) and becomes the first in the state to get status.
This certificate is issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (Mohua) for best practices in wastewater management.
Only the cities declared ODF ++ (free defecation) qualified to qualify for this certification.
A step more advanced, the city also scored higher points in managing waste water according to global standards.
