Citizens suffer from the 28km outer ring road remain incomplete

Nagpur: Even because many hype is being made about road projects in and around the city, residents along the Ring Road outside the Mandiri Four Line (ORR) and bypass for the Nagpur City suffer because of the incomplete road work carried out by the nationally.
Indian Highway Authority (NHAI).
Package II outer ring road project covers 28 km from Fetri in Kalmeshwar-Katol Road connecting to Kamptee-Jabalpur Road of NH-44 through Bokhara, Bharatwada, Panjara in Koradi-chhindwara in NH-47.
From 28km, only 7km has been resolved in stretching.
From the RS639 crore project, more than RS312 Crore has been spent.
The project, which began in January 2017, was in a sluggish even though it was 100% acquisition of land.
It must be completed in 30 months.
NHAI gave an extension to MEP Contractor’s infrastructure developer Ltd until March 2021, but still a concession holder has failed to complete the project.
NL Yeotkar, project director, NHAI, admitted that this project was abandoned in the middle and only 40% of the work was completed.
“The concession holder has experienced financial problems and we have issued ‘intention to stop the notification to MEP,” Yeotkar said.
Yeotkar said the project was being built under hybrid annuity mode (HAM) where 40% of the costs were divided by NHAI and balances of 60%, 45% funded by banks and 15% by concession holders.
Contractors have used all bank money.
Ramnath and Mahalaxmi Townships, Bajrang Nagar, and other independent colonies along the Road of the Koradi faced the inconvenience of the tomb.
Toi visits to cities and regions on Sunday found that in some patches, the cement road has been built but people cannot use it.
Working on culverts and bridges has been left across the route.
Shariique Sheikh’s architect said that even a short spell of rain made road running roads, and “it’s hard to drive two-wheeled vehicles”.
“Life has become a hell for more than 1,500 populations that use one-km muddy road and small holes to reach the main road of the Koradi,” he said.
“There are no street lights and the cement road in front of our city is a dead end where anti-social elements consume liquor and throw empty bottles along the road.
Women cannot come out after 18:00, even in an emergency , “said Rajendra Gupta.
The outer ring road is the focal point, said Vijay Kolhe, why people buy flats and housing houses in 2017.
“The ring road is a great hope because it will connect us to the city and help utilize all facilities, including health care,” he said.
Pravin Sable said that they realized that the dispute with the contractor would not recover soon.
He demanded that Nhai would at least develop the service and street lights in stretching 1 km from their territory, which was the end of the ring road.
“It can resolve our tribulation to a certain extent,” he said.
Aftab Sheikh said that the contractor put four large foundations on both sides of the Coradi road to be quiet and left the job.
Now, these spots have turned into an open well and have become accidental spots at night.
Omkant Srivastava said that the driver lost his balance because of the hole and injured.
“Because of a bad road, even the school van driver refused to pick up children from the colony and asked parents to drop them up to the main road,” he said.
Yeotkar said the complaint was original but their hands were bound.
“When the project was under human rights, MEP had to resolve disputes with lenders.
Secondly, we must appoint a new contractor, but this will only happen next year because December is the last time limit for MEP to complete the project,” Yeotkar said.
