Coimbatore: When the business community and people who miss the vacation have begun to travel, the number of passengers using coimbatore airport has increased every month.
A total of 1,14,402 people traveled through the airport in September, which was a 16% increase compared to August.
According to the airport authorities, 98,820 people traveled in August.
While 1.09,774 people traveled to domestic destinations, 4,628 traveled to international destinations in September.
In August, 96,529 people traveled to domestic destinations and 2,291 to international destinations.
August has witnessed a sharp increase in the number of passengers compared to July.
The month witnessed a 53% increase in passengers and 67% of aircraft operations.
P Ranjith, managing city-based express vacation partners, said the airport is getting busy every day.
“People are frustrated living in the room.
They now see domestic destinations to be explored.
Jammu & Kashmir and Darjeeling are now a favorite destination for people in the Congken region,” he told Toi.
Relatives that occur on group tours ensure security first.
Many do RT-PCR before taking flight.
Reducing infection rates and increasing the level of vaccination throughout the country encourages people to tour, said Ranjith.
“The company has begun to hold tours to domestic and international destinations.
Already, it’s hard to get accommodation in tourist attractions.” Compared to August, there was an increase in 56 flights in September, an airport official said.
International flights have seen an increase by 13 flights.
The Director of Coimbatore Airport Senthil Valavan said that the number of cargo handled by the airport also witnessed a stable increase.
More than 122 tons of cargo were handled in September compared to the previous month.
As many as 581 domestic tons and 107 tons of international cargo were handled in August.
In September, 710 tons of domestic cargo and 108 tons of international cargo were handled.
