Mumbai: BMC has compiled a new standard operating procedure (SOP) to impose fire service costs in all buildings that will appear after June 2021.
In May, BMC Iqbal Chahal commissioner has gave sanctions on the recovery of fire service fees, which are calculated at Rs 10 per sq m for all buildings.
Annual costs are 1% per year of the amount of fire fees, officials said.
Times ViewThe Standing Committee BMC recently rejected the proposal to raise property taxes to quote the economic slowdown due to a pandemic.
Fire extinguisher must have collected fire and annual costs regularly since 2014.
Now collecting it retrospectively will place a large burden on the community and residents of housing.
Although it is important to restore the amount, BMC must develop a mechanism to collect it in the section.
BMC must also conduct an investigation and improve responsibility for officers which causes the delay in collecting this fee and causing a loss of more than 1,400 crore rs to BMC.
According to him to the Mumbai Fire Brigade on June 7, the cost of fire and annual costs restored under the law of Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Safety, 2006.
“Need to recover costs in accordance with the provisions of the law from March 3, 2014 for all buildings built On or after December 6, 2008, “circular was stated.
“Deputy Head of Fire Extinguisher was worried, with the assistant assistant fire officer and division fire officers, will find permission data given to the building from March 3, 2014, until May 14, 2015, where BMC is a planning authority; and from March 3, 2014, up to 6 June 2021, the building where MHADA, MMRDA, SRA or MBPT is a planning authority.
Building data that appears between May 15, 2015, and June 6, 2015, will be provided by Chief Engineer (Development Plan) to collect fire service fees and annual fees, “he added , Both of these costs are introduced to increase internal fire protection funds to improve services.
“While 50% of the money collected below this head must be given to the state government to strengthen fire services in other parts of the country, the remaining 50% must be used by BMC in Mumbai to create better fire safety and fire fighting.
Infrastructure such as creating More Fire Stations.
However, this money has not yet recovered since 2014; it was trapped in the bureaucracy between the State Government and BMC, “claiming a civilian official, adding that BMC has released religion and several charitable institutions, such as old age houses, from Payment of this fee.
BJP Corporator Vinod Mishra claims “deliberate delay” in the collection of costs by fire department officials has led to a loss of thousands of crores to BMC and the state government.
“If you count interest in the principal number of Rs 1,400 Crores for seven years, the number is far more.
The probe must be done either by an anti-corruption bureau or economic wing that opposes the relevant official who does not charge the fee to support the builder to exchange kickback.
Responsibility for Not recovering this money must be repaired, “said Mishra.
