Thane: Thane Municipal Corporation has suspended four engineers, who are responsible for poor quality road work in their jurisdictions while three contractors have been slapped with notifications and warnings as blacklists, officials said on Saturday.
This happened a day after the District Guardian of the District Eknath Shinde reviewed the situation of roads filled with Pothole in Thane and warned severe actions against those responsible.
Parallel probes will be carried out on works under the supervision of MMRDA, MSRDC and PWD, Shinde said on Saturday.
Arjun Ahire, City Engineer with TMC Informed Junior Engineer Sandeep Gaikwad, Esclective Engineer Prakash Khadtare, Deputy Engineer Sandeep Sawant and Executive Engineer Chetan Patel is placed under the suspension by Commissioner of Dr.
Vipin Sharma to reduce road conditions.
Officials, citing orders, said the engineers were responsible for the right maintenance of roads and examined the quality of repair work, which failed they did.
“Road repairs are approved with adequate budgets but if the work is carried out below the standard and the engineer does not monitor correctly, it will not be tolerated,” Shinde said.
The special task unit has been set under the Thane collector to coordinate and resolve all problems related to the road in the region.
