Coimbatore: City Corporation has canceled the proposed civil works worth around RS 39 Crore Citing Crunch and Shift funds in priority through a resolution that was forwarded on August 31.
In accordance with resolutions uploaded on corporate websites, it works including the construction of storm waterways, garden maintenance and building buildings carried out in five civil body zones.
While the project worth RS 13.74 Crore was canceled in the west zone, those who were worth RS 9.92 Crore were canceled in the central zone, 7.55 Crore Rs in the East Zone and 7.71 Crore Rs in the South Zone.
For some works, work orders are issued, but the concerned contractor does not start work.
For others, tenders are called but not allocated.
The works were canceled most of the maintenance of the park, bus terminal, construction and repair of the school building, delivering the Bitumen, Maintenance and Operation of Borewells, repairing underground drainage systems (UGD) and replacement of old drinking water pipes and ER lines.
Payment of Rs 120 Crore is waiting for the contractor, who has completed the project under public funds.
A civil body official said that all civil facilities needed by the public will be realized.
“However, it will take longer.
All the required projects will be revived and those who deserve attention will soon be taken,” he said.
The Civic’s body has canceled the work worth RS 19 Crore, especially in the North and South Zone, with the same reason at the council meeting held in July.
