PANAJI: The initiative of citizens under the banner of citizens for democracy has accused the state government in mismanagement of smart city mission and extemption of valuable funds.
Overcoming the media, residents say that over the past five years, imagine Panaji Smart City Development Corporation Ltd (IPSCDL) has failed to provide real benefits to state capital.
They have called for the probe into the function of the vehicle specific and demanding to find out how the funds allocated for missions are spent.
Former Elvis Gomes bureaucrats, who are part of a citizen for democracy, said that Urban Bulk Transit Company Ltd.
(UMTC) was paid Rs 28 Lakh to prepare the initial report for a comprehensive mobility plan and parking parent plan for Panaji, but until now it has been implemented.
Gomes, who gave a detailed presentation, said that Rs 669 Crore had been sucked through IPSCDL without auditing and accountability and with the guise of making a “smart” panaji while keeping citizens in the dark.
“The National Smart City Mission website shows that the project worth RS 669 Crore is approved by the central government to Panaji under the mission.
But there is no information about projects under the mission in the City Smart Portal of the Corporation of the City of Panaji website,” Gomes said.
Gomes said that IPSCD has begun to deposit funds with other government departments such as PWD and WRD for various works without coordination with relevant bodies such as the CCP.
“The tender process follows the defect of a tailor made to fit some contractors without fair competition,” Gomes said.
Former scientist Joe D’Souza said that without real results and RS 669 Crore funds abused, a thorough investigation was needed.
Shailendra Velasar, the son of the former head of RSS Goa Subhash Velasar, accused that the clandestine plan was made to hand over the old secretariat to the casino operator outside the coast.
