City got Nodal 1 officer for rainwater harvesting

Gurgaon: To ensure the availability and functionality of rainwater harvesting (RWH) in a large group housing community, commercial and institutional companies, Deputy Commissioner Yash Garg has appointed the district city planner (law enforcement) as a nodal official.
This is the first time Nodal officer has been appointed to oversee the harvesting of rainwater in the city.
Officers, coordinating with the corporation of the city of Gurgaon (MCG) and the police, will drive to ensure the enforcement of RWH norms in this company and start actions against violators.
In his demands, Deputy Commissioner Yash Garg said the district administration would make an enforcement encouragement under the campaign ‘capturing rain’ national mission.
“With the appointment of nodal officers, the enforcement encouragement will be carried out in an efficient way in coordination with other departments concerned,” he said.
The aim is to ensure that the rain water is channeled to recharge the groundwater table, which is thinning and serious concern for the city, Garg said.
“Not only this, repairing and construction of RWH structures and stormwater waterways and the resistance to the nearest pool is a must to resolve the problem of eternal floods,” he added.
BATTH said he would soon hold a meeting with MCG and the police to start the enforcement drive.
“We already have some data about the area that requires immediate attention.
The drive will be carried out with the aim of accelerating the functionality of rainwater harvesting plants,” he said.
He further said the direction in this matter has been issued for all housing buildings, schools and industrial companies under the District Administration, MCG, HSVP and DTCP.
“As in clauses 8.1 (1) Haryana building codes, harvesting rainwater is must be installed by the owner who built the building in the plot where the roof area is 100 square meters or more.
According to clause 8.1 (2) Haryana building code, groundwater charging must be mandatory not only for residential buildings, but for all types of buildings including the group housing group with a 500 square meter plot area and on it, “notice recently released by Garg said.
A survey conducted by DTCP and MCG two years ago has revealed that only 55% of RWH sites in residential and commercial buildings function in Gurgaon.
Housing housing in new sectors along the Dwarka freeway is the worst player, with no RWH site that works.
The survey included 57 condominiums, group housing, commercial and Ti Park in sector 1 to 115.
