City Police, Univ Law signed the MoU to learn crime

Nagpur: City Police and Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU) have entered the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to study the patterns and characteristics of violent crime including murder, efforts to kill and hurt the case for the past 20 years.
During the visit of the State House Prime Minister Walse Walse Patil earlier this year, he had suggested City Police to make a study to ensure the reason behind the high events of violent crime in Nagpur.
This study will aim to develop an effective methodology for the prevention of crime and exacerbate the coordination between the police, prosecution and prison, said Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.
“Crime statistics over the past two decades must be referred to and in-depth studies about the 2016 firs and so on will be carried out.
Our aim is to find out the psychological, social, socio-economic and legal factors behind the crime,” he said.
“The aim is to find out vulnerable places and less vulnerable in the city by implementing a cartography criminology (crime geographical mapping),” he said.
Kumar said various steps have been made during a period of time in the city to withdraw the crime rate.
“We will study the methodology of preventing crime and ensure its effectiveness,” he added.
