City to have 9-10 more corporators

Nagpur: Country Cabinet on Wednesday cleaned proposals to increase the number of representatives selected in civilian bodies.
Following the decision, the number of corporators tends to rise 9-10 at Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC).
Previously, the minimum number of corporators in the city corporation was 65 and a maximum of 175.
Given the manifold increase population in cities and cities and need to accelerate development, the cabinet has increased the minimum number of corporations by 17%.
I.e of 65 before until 76.
In accordance with the cabinet decision, the average growth of the population from 2011 to date will be considered to revise the number of Corator as a census cannot occur in 2021 after the Pandemic Covid-19.
At present, NMC has 151 corporators.
In accordance with NMC officials, the average city population is around 28.6-29 lakh.

According to the formula decide, a corporator will represent 50,000 people.
With this, NMC is likely to get more Nine Canporators if the population is considered as 28.6 lakh and 10 more corporators if the population is calculated as 29 lakh.
Following changes, the total number of representatives selected in NMC is likely to increase to 160-161.
Thus, the number of wards will also increase.
The Government of Maha Vikas Aghadi recently revised the environmental system of four members per region to three members.
Thus, the city should get 50 wards – 49 wards with three members and one ward four members.
If the number of corporators stands at 160, there will be 53 wards, where 52 will have three members and one with four members.
In the case of 161 Canporator, this city is likely to be divided in 54 wards, 53 with three members and one nobleman with two members.
The numbers will definitely be known after the notification is issued by the State Urban Development Department in the coming days.
In addition to selected corporators, NMC also has five co-opted corporators.
