Guwahati: The Chairman of Himanta Minister Buswa Sarma on Monday displays “Bhumi Pusu” from the second medical college in Guwahati on the Kalapahar and MMCH campus.
The project is being carried out with a total cost of Rs 998.30 Crore which covers an area of 62 BGHAS.
The minister’s head announced that the new institute would be named Pragjyotishpur Medical College after the ancient name of Assam, Pragjyotishpura, mentioned in Ramayana and Mahabharata.
“This new medical college will greatly add to the infrastructure of medical education and health care in the state and meet Guwahati medical requirements and the nearest area,” he said.
He added that medical colleges and new hospitals will be completed in 2025.
Kalapahar campuses from new medical colleges will have 480 beds, 46 ICUS, 7 high-tech OTS and accommodation for 450 students and 100 internships.
Higher Education will provide entry into 100 MBBS students every year.
On the other hand, the MMCH campus will have 800 beds, 100 ICUS, advanced diagnostic facilities, dialysis units, 11 OTS include.
Sarma said the flyover construction was taking place at Sarabbhati which would facilitate better communication between.
