ThiruvananThapuram: In a movement aim to utilize the extensive land in Vilappilsala, City Corporation has invited an interest in interest (EOI) from the architectural company panel to design mini cities in the area.
Since the mass protest imposes the closure of the waste treatment plant in Vilappilsala in 2011, the company has tried various plans to utilize good land.
According to the latest proposal, 36 hectares are available for the city.
The architectural company must design a city in such a way that spots need to be identified for city forests, apartments, convention centers, housing training centers, warehouses and vehicle yards for those left behind.
A topographic survey will be carried out before the city design.
A separate detailed project report will be prepared for each project and based on the availability of funds, each project will be implemented in stages.
In-room games and residential facilities for technology universities are also being planned in the city.
In 2017, the budget imagined a proposal to establish an amusement park in Vilappilsala on Build Operate and Transfer Mode at a cost of Rs 2 Crore.
However, the project does not take off.
Officials said that the land owned by the corporation in VilalaPpilsala has good value and if a project can be implemented there, it can have many advantages.
Because of the closure of waste treatment plants, local residents have seen every corporate movement with skepticism.
Even when corporate officials tried to transport cattle to the vilappilsala factory place, the neighbor’s residents firmly objected.

The recent CAG report was filed in assembly, it marked the failure to the city corporation section to protect the debris obtained from the Vilappilsala solid waste management project which resulted in the loss of Rs 31.02 lakh.
The corporation has provided the work of ‘Sanitary Landfill in Vilappilsala – Preparation of land charging sites’ related to solid waste management projects to private companies for the agreed upon 6.66 crore Hospital number.
The agreement was carried out in March 2010 with the date of completion in November 2010.
The work consisted of six components.
Due to public agitation, the government must confiscate the project in December 2011.
The contractor has executed the development of partial locations and the total value of the work carried out as Rs 1.31 Crore.
The final payment of Rs 75 Lakh, including retention money was carried out in March 2017.
