Mumbai: BMC will restart the Covid-19 vaccination drive on Friday.
Drive was canceled on Wednesday and Thursday because of the unavailability of vaccines from the country.
“The vaccine stock is scheduled to arrive in Mumbai at the end of Wednesday night, and distribution to vaccination centers will take place throughout Thursday,” said a citizenship official.
BMC will receive 61,200 doses of 50,000 covishield and 11,200 covaxin.
“The drive will begin on Friday as a result,” the official said.
The private sector managed to vaccinate around 18,000 people on Wednesday.
In the entire state, a little over the Lakh people called with three to four lakh every day when the vaccine is available.
A senior state official said that Maharashtra had been promised a total of 1.1 crore vaccines for July.
The Minister of Health of State Rajesh Tope said Maharashtra had the capacity to vaccinate the entire population in one or two months if the center would provide adequate vaccine doses.
“The state can vaccinate at least 10 lakh and a maximum of 15 people in a day.
Therefore, the center must provide at least this dose,” he said.
In the third wave prediction, the minister said: “The third wave can stop if people follow the behavior that matches covid and takes vaccination.”
