Bhubaneswar: Candidates to prepare for the Civil Service Examination have urged the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) to reschedule the Date of Civil Test Odisha (Introduction) – 2020 clashes with several other exams at the state and national level.
The initial inspection of OCS will be held on August 27, while the feasibility test of Odisha Middle School (Osstet) will also be carried out on the same date.
Likewise, IAS’s interview will begin from Monday and continue until September 22.
Many civil service candidates are preparing their interviews in Delhi, so they might face difficulties to appear for the initial inspection of OCS in Odisha.
One aspiran said the date of the Civil Service Examination (CSE) -2020 carried out by the UNI Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the OCS exam must not collide with each other.
Usually, the state follows this for the benefit of prospective civil services, he added.
Many Aspiran OCS-2020 has been selected for the UPSC CSE-2020 interview which will be held in Delhi.
“If we choose an UPSC interview, we might not appear an OCS-2020 examination in Odisha.
We are preparing for the interview now and it will be difficult for us to return Delhi after appearing for inspection at Odisha during this Covid time.
If I fall sick because of this traveling, It will create a problem in my preparation.
So, OPSC had to reschedule the Prelim Exam to a date later after the IAS interview was completed, “said the candidate.
Usually, competitive examinations such as civil services are detained on Sundays or national holidays so that applicants, which are in service, can set the time to appear examination.
But the introductory examination of OCS-2020 is scheduled to be held on weekdays, other candidates said.
The candidates said the OPSC had to publish the results of the OCS-2019 (main) exam conducted in January this year.
“If the Commission is worried to hold the OCS-2020 Prelim examination, it must show the same concern as the OCS-2019 exam.
Should issue a notification for the OCS-2020 exam after publishing the previous year’s exam results,” he added.
The candidates have written a letter to the Chairman of the Minister of Naveen Patnaik, Chief Secretary of the Semandra Chandra Mohapatra and OpSC Chairman Satyajit Mohanty to consider their requests to reschedule the Date of Introduction.
An OPSC officer said they had received a petition from aspirants about this issue.
“We have planned to conduct a prelim inspection in May, but we have to reschedule until August 27 because of Covid.
If we do not hold an examination this month, we may face problems after the burst in the Covid case,” he added.
