PANAJI: Head of the Sawant Minister of Pramod on Wednesday said that the state government had decided to continue the offline class for class IX for XII by staggering from Monday.
Speaking to Ti Sawant said that the decision was taken by the Covid Management Task Force.
Since teaching offline has not returned for students to class VIII, it will be easier to hold classes for four standards in staggering ways, he said.
Sawant said that the school had to follow all Covid protocols needed and added that the education director would issue a circular list of all related Covid SOPs to be followed.
Covid-19 State Expert Committee recommends the government to reopen schools for class IX and X, and higher secondary schools.
Earlier on the day, the association of the old teacher and board teacher Dr.
K Hedgewar High School, Cujira, held a demonstration in Panaji, followed by a demonstration at Azad Maidan, demanding offline and class exams.
A large number of students also hold a holding banner such as ‘online test bye-bye, offline exam Amka Zai (we want an offline exam)’.
While the state government has issued a circular that allows higher secondary schools to take their exams for class XI and XII in offline mode, demonstrators say they want class IX and X Exams also in physical mode.
“When everything else has opened, schools must be allowed to hold offline and class exams at least for class IX students for XII,” said a Teacher Deepak Amonkar.
Students say that conducting an online exam does not provide an accurate picture of where students stand.
“There is room for cheating in online exams and many students who only copy from books.
It is not fair to be more diligent than many, “said one of the students in the rally.
Parents stated that the association of parents of KB Hedgewar supported demand.
“We fully support this request and if this application is not heard, we will see that thousands gather here next time,” said the parent.
