Patna: The State Education Department has prepared several plans from holding a Catch-Up event and a special class additional to improve school hours for the current session to redeem academic losses caused by Pandemic Covid-19.
It has also worked on plans to reduce school syllabus by covering important topics.
In a recent report released with an integrated district information system for education (UDISE), it was revealed that only 14% of children in Bihar had access to the internet.
The UNICEF-Bihar report has recently found that nearly 75 lakh children can experience learning losses because of a pandemic.
Education Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary said it was proven that a large number of children in Bihar lost education and suffered academic losses due to pandemics.
He told this newspaper on Thursday that the department had prepared a courses of pursuit behind for class II students to X, with a focus on the learning bridge from conventional subjects.
“Under this course, students will be taught in the previous class syllabus and at this time.
Another way to catch students is to ensure that everyone is behind tutoring in small groups,” Choudhary said, adding additional classes to be carried out with the approval of students , The minister said if children are willing to take additional classes, it can be arranged even on holidays and Sundays.
“The department also plans longer school hours to improve learning.
Everything will be done in such a way that children feel not burdened by a longer class.
The last choice we have is cutting down syllabus while covering important topics if there is time constraints, “He said.
The department has also created cellular applications, e-libraries from teachers and students (e-lots), and web portals besides offering e-books, study materials and audio-video classes to students ensuring sustainable learning at home.
“Special classes in the Doordarshan (DD) channel also runs to redeem losses in studies due to covid pandemics,” Minister said.
He added that in poor circumstances such as Bihar, maximum children do not have access to electronic devices and internet connections.
“Digital learning has its own limitations in the state.
This is the reason we have sent a proposal to the project approval board from Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan who is sponsored centrally, told PTovide tablets for children studying in elementary school,” he said.
