Bhubaneswar: The State Government has decided to suspend classes in elementary schools that will be used as a polling booth for future Panchayat selection.
The government has announced earlier that the physical class for students I to VIII will continue from February 14.
With the first stage of the poll scheduled to start from February 16, the class will remain suspended in those places from February 15-17.
In the following days the election, the class will also be suspended for three days.
The choice of Panchayat will end at 24.
“If an elementary school building has been chosen as a polling station and the booth is set there, the class must be suspended the day before the day after the poll.
For the first day reopened on February 14, there was no problem for school Regardless of whether they are polling stations.
District collectors will make calls, issue the necessary circulation and make arrangements in accordance with this problem, “said the school and education minister Mass Samir Das.
While the primary class from I to VE will be reopened after about two years because the pandemic, classes from VI and above have been closed before the initial third wave of Covid.
Officials said there would be no more disruption in the class because the election with exercises was more excessive on February 24.
The calculation will be carried out at the block base and all the ballot boxes will be transported to a strong room there.
So, there will be no further requirements of the school building for the voting process after February 24, they said.
R N Sahu, Secretary, the State Election Commission (SEC), said school buildings were set aside as a voting station by each district collector.
The district collector will decide about the use of the school building for the selection and suspension of the class, he said.
Voting personnel reached the booth a day before the voting day to ensure that all logistics exist the next day.
On the same day, personnel left after the poll ended and the sound box was packed and sent to a strong room.
