The AIDMK Coordinator of Panneerselvam on Wednesday demands the state government to climb the minimum support price for sugar cane to Rs 4,000 per ton as promised in the DMK polling manifesto.
In a press statement, he said the announcement of the state government, set the price of support at Rs 2,900 per ton, has disappointed farmers.
Ops remember that when the previous AIDMK regime improved the minimum support price at Rs 2,850 per ton in 2016, Stalin has demanded to increase the same as Rs 3,500.
“DMK threatens the protest stage if the price is not hiking and announced in the Manifesto poll that farmers will be given Rs 4,000 per ton if the party is chosen for power.
However, Stalin has deceived farmers with an announcement of Rs 2,900 per ton,” said OPS while urging the government To climb the minimum support price.
