Close shave for 2,300 as a large stone fall on the train in Tamil Nadu

Bengaluru / Salem: About 2,350 passengers on board 07390 Kannur-Yeshwantpur Express have narrow escape after large stones falling in the Dharmapuri district in Tamil Nadu in early Friday.
Seven coaches – B1, B2 (AC 3), S6, S7, S8, S9, S10 (Sleeper) – slipped between Sivadi and Muttampatti around 3.50 in the morning on Friday.

There were 2,348 passengers on the train that left the Kannur at 6:05 a.m.
on Thursday.
There were no victims or injuries reported.
Train manager Division Division Bengaluru Shyam Singh, along with senior officials, rushed to a place with a train relief and medical equipment at 4:45 in the morning.
Singh said all passengers were safe and added that the medical team had visited the place to check it out.
“The back is not affected by six coaches and SLRs (seat-cum-cum-luggage sweep) along with passengers continue the journey to Thoppur and further to Salem.
Fifteen buses are arranged in Thoppur for those who want to continue.
Those who want to continue Continuing their journey to Salem accommodated on alternative trains.
Refund settings are made for those who do not want to go further, “Hegde said.
Hegde said the stones were issued with earmoving equipment.
“All coaches who slipped were transferred around 3.30 a.m..
The trajectory was restored and certified suitable for train services at 8:30 a.m.,” he added.
“There is heavy rain in and around Dharmapuri District for the past few days.
This is an unprecedented incident.
A senior administrative level official will conduct an investigation.”
