Patna: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday examined different Ghats on the banks of the South Ganga River after Chhath ‘Mahaparv’ and asked officials to ensure cleanliness and security for worshipers.
Boarding a steamer boat, Nitish began checking Ghats from Gandhi Ghat and riding Kangan Ghat at Patna Sahib.
After that, he examined Chhath Ghats to Nasriganj in the Danapur area.
While checking Ghats, Nitish asked officials to make all the settings needed in the river islands so that the worshipers did not face difficulties in reaching there and offering ‘Arghya’ to God.
CM further said the pipeline bridge was being built near Ghat Collectorate and Mahendru Ghat to ensure the smoothness of the approach to the nearest river islands.
He asked officials to find out the possibility of building another bridge pipe near the Ghat ban for a smooth approach to the nearest island.
There are around 80 ghats between Nasriganj in Danapur to be held at Patna Sahib where Lakh swelling gathers to offer ‘Arghya’ to God and do other rituals from Mahavat for four days.
This year, the four-day ‘Mahavrat’ will begin on November 8 with the ‘Nahay Kay’ ritual and ended on November 11 with the last ‘Arghya’ to the sunrise in the morning.
Last year, Chhath Mahavat could not be organized on the edge of the Ganges in a big way due to restrictions related to Covid-19.
But this year, the state government has raised that limit.
“This year, the water level in Ganga is high due to heavy rainfall in the upper water catchment area.
In such a scenario, there is a need for the right security in all Chhath Ghats,” Nitish told reporters after the Ghats inspection.
He said officials and engineers had been asked to choose the location of Chhat Ghats by considering the flow of water and its depth, so the worshipers did not face difficulties in reaching Ghats, bathing in the river and bathing in the river and offering Arghya to Sun God.
CM said officials had also been asked to ensure the right barricades along the river near Ghats for the safety of worshipers.
Nitish said he would return to check Chhath Ghats on November 3 to take stock preparations.
