New Delhi: Head of Minister of Assam Himanta Buswa Sarma called on President of RAM Nath Kovind, Minister of Textile Union Smriti Irani and Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi on Friday, and discussed with them various problems regarding the state, officials said.
Was Sarma’s first meeting with the President since he took over as Chair of the Minister of Assam on May 10.
The meeting with the President was a courtesy call, said an official.
Sarma held discussions with Iran in the textile sector and problems related to the development of women and children, according to an official statement.
Iran is also an Union Minister for the development of women and children.
Sarma said the government explored various projects such as the emergency support response system under the NIRBHAY fund and others to provide a safety net all the time for the country’s women.
The minister’s chairman told the Union minister on various initiatives that the Government Assam had taken to curb human trafficking.
Sarma told Iran about the steps that his government had taken under an additional nutritional program, where children aged six months to six years, pregnant and breastfeeding women were given nutritious foods under the integrated child development scheme.
He asked the Union Minister for the release of adequate and timely central shares under SNP to Assam according to the recipient’s number to cover 300 days.
Responding to Sarma’s request for the development of the textile sector in the state, Iran said special stress would be given to the implementation of the total textile scheme in Assam, the statement said.
During his meeting with the Coal Minister, Sarma discussed issues relating to the state, said other officials.
