Guwahati: The second dose coverage of Covid-19 vaccination in Assam has touched around 65%, even when the country continues to detect more than 100 positive cases every day in the state, with Guwahati’s capital giving the highest number.
Minister of Himanta Minister Buswa Sarma appealed to people to adapt to the Covid situation by following the protocol.
He replied to questions from the media on a surge in cases in educational institutions in recent weeks.
After the University of Gahati closed the class and temporary hostels, more cases were detected in several universities in Guwahati and government girls schools in the Nalbari district.
Two teachers and a student were tested positive at MNC Balika Vidyapeth in Nalbari.
A total of 180 cases were reported in the state on Thursday, with a level of participation of 0.58%.
Kamrup (Metro) Regency which includes Guwahati City only reported 83 cases.
Four Covid deaths were also reported in the state on Thursday.
The State Immunization Office notifies that 1.41 Crore is estimated to be 2.15 Crore which meets the beneficiary requirements of the beneficiary vaccinated.
“Overall, one dose of the second lakh is managed every day in Assam.
In January next year we have planned to vaccinate 215 crore people,” Nodal officer from Covid-19 vaccination, Munindra Nath Nattey, told TII.
He added that there was enough stock of doses (35 lakh) in the state, and vaccination could continue without interruption over the next few weeks.
