MUMBAI: Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday held a review meeting over monsoon preparedness as well as the heavy rains forecast for Mumbai and other coastal areas of the state between June 9-12.
Thackeray told the local administrations that people living in low-lying areas, dilapidated buildings and landslide-prone areas should be evacuated and relief and rescue teams should be stationed at suitable spots.
He also said that central organisations like Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) should be alerted about the forecast and should be directed to take all precautions.
Infrastructure works are underway at several places in Mumbai and the debris of these works are lying on the road.
Therefore, the concerned agencies should ensure that rain water does not accumulate at such sites, like Metro, the CM said.
“Keeping in mind that patients are still getting treated in hospitals and vaccination is being carried out in the state, all hospitals should ensure there is power back up and also an adequate amount of oxygen is available.
Cooling units required for storage of vaccinations too should have backup power supply,” said Thackeray.
