Mumbai: Chairman of the Minister of Uddhav Thackeray on Friday praised Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for trying to become fully independent in providing medical oxygen for patients in hospitals.
“Mumbai and (covid) waves have a close relationship.
We must prepare new waves as soon as one wave recedes.
We all have to fight such against war for oxygen during the second wave.
To avoid such a situation, BMC is preparing an oxygen plant and become independent in Medical oxygen things.
This is a matter of pride, “Thackeray said.
Thackeray spoke after inaugurating a new oxygen generation plant established in Civic Run Kasturda, Bhabha, Cooper and Nehru Center in Worli which had turned into a covid center.
BMC officials said that plants are regulated by using corporate social responsibility funds (CSR) and will jointly produce 6.93 metric tons of oxygen.
Thackeray inaugurated the plant through video conferencing.
Minister of Tourism Aaditya Thackeray, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar, and Head of BMC Iqbal Chahal was present for the event.
